The Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee will host a local essay competition for our youth. The essay topic is “What Does Juneteenth Mean to Me”. This is an essay competition for children ages 11-18 currently residing in the Borough of Swissvale. The essay must be a minimum of 250 words. The winning essay will be recognized and celebrated by the Borough of Swissvale at the Juneteenth celebration held at Swissvale Community Days. Submissions are due no later than 4 pm on Friday, May 21st.
Essays can be sent electronically to wscales@swissvaleborough. com. They can also be mailed to or dropped off at 7560 Roslyn Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15218.
