5/25/24:  June will be our last Homeschool Day until September, but we have some fun in store! This month we will be discussing and learning hands on how some of the items used regularly by the army and navy worked. We will learn about gun powder (No, you won’t be learning how to make it), how flint and steel works, how a musket and a cannon/ mortar fire, and how they lifted and moved heavy objects with a block and tackle. This will be a very active program, and we suggest wearing long pants, and maybe bringing a pair of gloves. You can register by clicking this link: https://forms.office.com/r/dJuGfydgpT  https://www.facebook.com/events/456563360387399/

1/18/24: Homeschool Families! Come join us for a day with Benjamin Franklin! Our friend Benjamin Franklin will be here to talk and answer questions for our homeschool students.

After a tradesman career of wallpaper hanging, Patrick (“Pat”) McBride became a living history reenactor portraying Benjamin Franklin in 2019. Pat has always had an interest in history as a long-time coin collector, but becoming Franklin was inspired by a suggestion from his good friend and 25-year reenactor, Dennis Boggs (who portrays Abraham Lincoln): “You know, Pat, you would make a wonderful Ben Franklin. You certainly have the personality for it!” Pat was already portly and balding, so he took the next economical step by letting his hair grow and purchasing a tri-corner hat. He quickly immersed himself in the 18th century by reading everything about Benjamin Franklin he could get his hands on. After a few years of reenacting, he’s accumulated a wardrobe of colonial clothing from various vendors. His appearances include regional and national coin shows, history centers, colonial fairs, club gatherings, and social events. He is based in Pennsylvania but is available to travel and has performed in various states. This program is meant for Homeschool students. Regular admission fees apply. 2/1/24: This program gears toward homeschool students and aims to emphasize the tie of The French and Indian War and The Revolutionary War. This five-week program takes learners on a journey filled with historical information, hands on experiences, activities, and more! Learn how a young George Washington, who nearly found his end during Braddock’s Defeat, led an army against those he had once served to win our independence!
