A prolific author, he has contributed to publications such as The Atlantic, The Paris Review, The New York Times, Washington Post, McSweeney’s, Slate, Salon, The New Republic, and Poetry, among dozens of others. He is the author of over a dozen books, including An Alternative History of Pittsburgh and now The Soul of Pittsburgh: Essays on Life, Community and History.
