(Root Beer) Float Back to School – BCLA

August 23, 2024 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Free
Did you know that ice cream floats were invented in Pennsylvania in 1874? Commercially produced root beer also traces its roots (pun intended!) to Pennsylvania, as pharmacist Charles Hires began bottling and selling the beverage he coined “root beer” in 1886. So just around the same time that the Braddock Carnegie Library opened, people in the area could have been tasting root beer ice cream floats for the first time!
As if an ice cream party to end summer yesterday weren’t enough, we’re serving up root beer floats next week to celebrate heading back to school! Join us at 526 Braddock Ave on August 23rd from 4pm-5:30pm!
