Garbage & Recycling Collection Date Change – Swissvale 2024-0725 – regular schedule Monday through Friday except on holidays – New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th (Independence Day), Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day – when a one day delayed schedule is put in place.
Clean Up Day – Swissvale – 2024-0420 – 4/20/24 This is our town wide litter clean-up event. Volunteers are invited to gather at the Public Works Garage on McCague Street at 9:30 a.m. to receive high-visibility shirts, gloves, garbage bags, grabbers and other necessary supplies to deploy throughout Swissvale and clean-up trash and litter. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided in the morning and lunch will be provided to all volunteers from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm. Volunteers will also have a chance to win door prizes just for helping out! Residents of all ages are encouraged to participate and make our town a place to be proud of. A couple of hours of volunteerism will go a long way towards beautifying Swissvale!
Hard to Recycle Day – Swissvale – 2024-0348 – Hard to Recycle Event—Saturday, May 18 (9:00 am – 1:00 pm) This is our annual electronics, household hazardous waste and hard to dispose of items collection at Les Getz Memorial Park. Acceptable items include televisions, computers, computer peripherals, batteries, tires, household hazardous waste (paints, paint thinners, oils, antifreeze, etc.), bulk items and building materials.
Borough Real Estate Tax Due – Swissvale – 2024-0629 – Borough Real Estate Tax Bills are mailed the first week of May. Payment is due by June 30th for the discounted rate. The due date for full payment is August 31st. 8/19/24: The Borough of Swissvale, in cooperation with the WalkWorks Program of the Pennsylvania Downtown Center with funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Health ($30,000.00), is seeking a qualified transportation planning consultant to develop an Active Transportation Plan for the Borough.
