As we approach the Feast of the Prophet Elias on Sunday July 21, we remind you that we will have the blessing of vehicles immediately following the Divine Liturgy. This tradition honors the Prophet Elias, who is known for his miraculous journey to heaven in a fiery chariot.

Why Do We Bless Vehicles?

Blessing vehicles is a way to seek God’s protection for those who travel. The tradition is rooted in the miraculous ascent of the Prophet Elias, symbolizing God’s presence and guidance on our journeys. By blessing our vehicles, we ask for:

1. Safety and Protection. That God may safeguard drivers and passengers from accidents and harm.

2. Guidance and Wisdom. That those who travel may be granted wisdom and prudence in their journeys.
